Antirio lies in a cape which has its closest distance to the Peloponnese. All houses are lined up with the highway and the shoreline, while the area is surrounded by farmland and beautiful forests. Adjacent to the port of Andirio, the visitor can see the imposing lighthouse, as well as the fortress.
What makes Antirio special is the existence of the Rio-Antirio bridge, officially called «Charilaos Trikoupis» bridge, (after the statesman who first envisioned it). It is a cable-stayed bridge crossing the Gulf of Corinth, linking the town of Rio, (Peloponesse), to Antirio, (Mainland). With a length of 2,880m. it is considered as being an engineering masterpiece.
