Angelokastro

Angelokastro: This is a small picturesque village southeast fromKorinthos, on the road that will take us to the Moni Sofiku, on the mountain chain of Onia, at an altitude of 800m. Findings that are dated to the Neolithic era reassure us that the location was inhabited since then. It’s believed that during the ancient ages was called Erinthia    Except from the beautiful beach that has pebbles, there’s an abandoned Medieval castle on a conical shaped hill of mountain Zygos. Here lied the ancient city of Konopi, rena-med during the 3rd century BC Arsinoy, after a daugh- ter of an Aegyptian king. Parts of the fortification of the castle (which was double) are saved. During the 13th cen- tury (the town acmed guring the Byzantine ages) the church of Saint-George was built on the top of the hill. Visit the location and learn about and learn about the myths that go around from mythology to the Byzantine ages and the Venetian command.
