Andros Town: The town of Andros is situated in the eastern part of the island, 35km. east of the harbor, known as Gavrio. The town is built upon a small peninsula, between the two sandy beaches of Neiborio and Paraporti and ends on a little island, where the medieval castle is set.
The fortified capital combines both the Venetian and Cycladic architecture with narrow stone-paved alleys and arcades.
The town of Andros has two main squares. The first one is surrounded by many cafeterias, all shadowed by a huge plane tree. The second square is famous for its statue of the «Unknown Sailor» and the breath-taking view of the sea.
For swimming, the visitor can go to the long, sandy beach of Niborio.
