Anafi (Introduction): The island of Anafi is situated in the southeastern corner of the Cyclades, with a population of approximately 500 inhabitants. The island’s size is no more than 38 square kilometers.
Being a small and hilly island, is the perfect destination for those seeking isolation. So, if you are looking for a wild nightlife, Anafi is not a good choice. There are many cafeterias, tavernas and small shops. The houses retain their traditional architecture, separated by romantic stone-paved streets. Only a few rooms are available for rent.
The coasts of Anafi are uneven, while the highest mountains on the island are those of Vigla, Kalamos and Agios Ioannis the Theologian. The sandy and pebbly beaches are lapped by crystal clear waters and the one situated in the little harbor of Agios Nikolaos is of unique beauty. Boats can also take you to the surrounding beaches or, if you prefer, you can organize a daytrip to Santorini.
In the position of Vagia, there are some unexploited thionic healing sources.
Before leaving Anafi, do not forget to taste the local goat cheese and thyme honey.
