Aliveri is situated on the southwestern side of the island, 48km. away from Chalkida. Built amphitheatrically on the hills, it has a population of approximately 5,000 inhabitants. The visitor can take a walk around the small town in order to admire the Venetian castle surrounded by the well-preserved houses. The place is well known for the production of lignite and the extraction of marble. Also, there is a very significant thermoelectric factory. Visitors can find here the temple of the dormition of Virgin Mary. In near distances, there are also the Mycenae grave in Katakalo and the Venetian tower in Disto.
