The aquatic settlement of Aliki is situated on the eastern part of the island, close to the Asia Minor coastline. In Aliki, the inhabitants of Samos used to get the best salt production in Greece. That stopped happening in the year of 1965.
Today, the settlement of Aliki is of great ecological significance, part of the program «Natura 2000», as well as the «Special Protection Areas-SPA» program.
Here, the visitor can see various species of animals, such as hedgehogs, ferrets, river-turtles, lizards etc. Additionally, there have been recorded more than 127 bird species. So if you are a nature lover, do not miss visiting the area of unique beauty.
