Alexandroupoli
is the capital town of the prefecture of Evros, being built on the southern section above sea level. Alexandroupoli is situated only 15km. away from the mouth of the river Evros, having one of the
most important and busy ports in northern Greece.


The lighthouse is its trademark, being constructed by a French company and operating since 1880. Additionally, it is one of the highest lighthouses in Greece, (27m. in height).
