On the Thyreas lowland and on our way to Leonidio, just 6klm away from Astros we find this constantly developing town, builted on the hills of a mountain very close to the sea. Picturesque stone builted houses, a central square, tavernas, metropolitan christian temple ans stores, all form the leading town of the ter-ritory. 3klm away you will find the Agios Andreas beach on the coastline of the Myrtoo open sea and a small pi-cturesque port. In Agios Andreas disemborgues to the sea and has formed the Zabanitsa gorge. The gorge is a ve-ry impressive sight, especially during the season that the ice is melting on the Parnonas mountain chain on the course to the sea, forming small lakes and waterfalls. If you decide to hike on the gorge you will find a very nar-row point. Agios Andreas is the home town of the known dialect Tsakonika, which is a descendent dialect of the Laconic dialect mixed with influences of other Greek dialects and was preserved through the ages in these ancient grounds. Very close to Tsakonica is the dialect of Pontos, Kapadokia and Southern Italy. In the coffee-houses in Agios Andreas you will meet elder people still talking Tsakonika.
