Gythio  
Ideal place for all season holidays. It combines mountain with sea.

Location of roadtrips, with alleys that lead to sea, to Sminos river, and Taygetos villages. It is a tour center of Lakonia by car: It's on the node that leads to Mystras and Taygetos, Monemvasia and Parnonas, along with the wonderful Mani and its caverns.Gythio is built on the ancient mountain called Larysio (koumaro), it is sourrounded by Lakonia's gulf and it's one of the most beautiful harbours in the Mediterrainean Sea. The old name of the town is Marathonisi.In the foot of hill is found the ancient theatre that is used each summertime for cultural events. In the Town hall of city exist archaeological and Byzantine collections, statues of the years of Rome, and ceramic. 
   
Mani 
   In Mani exist innumerable stone towers, 7 castles, abundance of archaeological spaces, byzantine and post byzantine churches with wonderful hagiographies. In the region are found the 98 from the 118 traditional settlements of Peloponnese, with a lot of caverns, alleys and gorges for the roadtripers.From the landscape of the Messinian Mani, they distinguish: Kardamyli, with the byzantine monuments and the gorge of Vyros, Stoupa, the graphic Lagkada with stone towerhouses, Taygetos Tseria villages, Kastania and Milia. Aeropolis with her alleys and towers that have been nominated monuments. The Diros caverns, the Limeni opposite from the epic Oytylo, the Gerolimenas, the Vathia, the Kotronas with his fabulous beaches and the traditional architecture, the Porto Kagio and the Akrotirio Tainaro is only few from Inside Mani's sightseing.
 
Diros Cavern
The Diros cavern is constituted from several caverns: Glyfada, Alepotrypa and Katafygi have each one his own particular value. Under Mani's earth is hidden a breathless beauty, the most beautiful lacustrine cavern in the world.The exploration of cavern began in 1949 from the pair of cavernists Ioannis and Anna Petroxilou of the Greek Cavern Company. The cavern is constituted by stalactites and stalagmites, and in the old days it was land, however with the byway of centuries the level of water went up from the sea and thus the shapings of stalactites they resemble with white pillars that come out through water.No matter how many times anyone visits the Diros caverns, his eyes aren't satisfied to watch with admiration what nature has offered to him as gift. Monemvasia 
   Situated on the top of a hill of 300 metres, the Monemvasia's gazes the Myrtoo's Sea. Her only connection with the coasts of Lakonia is a thin band of ground that constituted also the only access on the rock.Today, Monemvasia maintains its fortress architecture. Narrow paved alleys lead the visitor between the byzantine's churches, archontika, splendid houses that keep something from their medieval delivery. Going up to the upper city, the towers and the residence of Venetian governor still dominate impressing with their imposing presence. Beside her, the new city unfolds beautiful and hospitable, providing even tourist infrastructures.Entire the city of Monemvasia is one real sightseeing. However it is worthy to notice the Saint Sofia's Church, 8-corner rythm, which was built by the Emperor Andronikos of 12th A.C. century, was changed in catholic temple by the Venetians and in pane by the Turks but maintained all its sovereignence up to today.
 
Mystras
The Mystras wan an eminent political and intellectual centre of later Byzantine period, which was developed afterwards the D' Crusade (< strong>1204) and the change of centre of interested of the empire from eastern in her western provinces.Today, as the visitor crosses the gate of castle, he can follow one from all the proposed ways. His way will lead him next to important monuments, secular and ecclesiastical, that record as irrefutable witnesses the history of place. Beginning from the upper Gate, with his entrance, he will see the Saint Sofia's Church, the chapel of Palaces, the group of Palaces, one of the few that are saved till today worldwide. ¶He will continue until the Monastery of Pantanassas, dedicated from the Prime Minister of Despotatou, Ioannis Fragkopoyloy, to the Virgin Mary, the Perivleptos, the enormous temple next to the walls, the Monastery of Vrontochiou with the two Catholics and the traces of his important library and finally, the Mitropolitan Church, dedicated in the Saint Dimitrios.In the top of the state of castle, it dominates the Frank's castle that offers a panorama view of plain of Lakedaimonos and mountainous volume of Taygetos as well.
