In "Xirokampi" settlement the visitor rediscovers the images, the sounds, colors, flavors and the perfumes of nature.

The look stretches out by the tops of Crete Mountains, passes through the green of trees until it is lost in the immense light blue the sea.

In the embrace of this quiet and hospitable place that its traditions & customs are being kept up until nowadays, in a completely thus respectfully renovated fatherly house of the householders, Sarris House was constructed. With beliefs which are based on our grandfathers traditions, with love being one of the major materials, the respect for the environment, the nature and the humanity.

Visitors apart from their comfortable stay in a place made with taste and eagerness will have the possibility to enjoy the goods of Cretan hospitality:
• Wine made from our vines and kept stored with consciousness and warmth in the houses cellar.
• Fresh vegetables and fruits of (biological farming) from the orchard and our garden.
• Bread and Rusk baked in a traditional way.
TRADITIONS
• In the heart of wintertime (17 of January) name day of Saint Antonius, the villages church celebrates. The family homes open their doors in order to greet the companion of the visitors that after the liturgy, they visit all the village houses in order to taste the rich traditional dishes that awaits them. The house-wine and Raki flow abundantly and accompany the singing and dancing that last up until daybreak.
• In the beginning of summertime, in the spinney of the village right next to the rocky fountain, the iconostasis of all Saints celebrates. The summer celebration under the dew of trees offers an inexperienced enjoyment to all the senses.
• Fall is dedicated to Dionysus. After the end of harvest, its time for Raki cauldrons to open. In October and November the discreet perfume of Raki dominates and invites.

In our place authentic tools and objects which represent the traditional occupations of the homegrown, have found shell in our home such as the traditional handloom.
In the entry of the house you can find our beautiful flower garden packed with flowers that have always embellished the Cretan courtyards and also a huge variety of aromatic and Cretes curative herbs, e.g. spearmint, oregano, rosemary, chamomile, sage, laurel, Pot marigold, levanter, lemongrass, aloe, thyme and many more.
The semblance acquaintance with the place is rounded off with routes within the nature, through paths and rural streets. These routes can be either long or short distances, depending on the visitors desire.

One is for sure: in nature you never get bored, you always participate, as long as you let your senses free and let them experience experiences that will satisfy them.
ACTIVITIES
Visitors might also participate actively in all farming activities thus developing their free time creatively.
Grape-harvest: The world's first and premier wine-press native since the due of the Minoan era was found in Crete. Faithful to the tradition, Crete is the most respectfully wine producer locality all over Greece. In a short distance from the house stands our vine. In an extended area of 2,5 acres, three different varieties of vine are being cultivated. Therefore, the vine-harvest as well as the stepping of the grapes its being completed within a three stage schedule:
• At the end of August the grape-harvest and the stepping of the early traditional Cretan varieties of Grapes named locally "Liatiko" & "Kotisifali" begins.
• The first fortnight of September, the grape-harvest and the stepping of a mid-early variety of grapes begin.
• At the end of September the final white harvest and the stepping of the last variety starts up until its completion.
Our visitors can participate in Dionysian activities of harvest and stepping either by watching the processes of wine production or taking part actively if they wish to. Of course they will be able to excurse in the cellar tasting our wine variety. Also during summertime they will have the possibility to watch various farming activities.
Traditional Raki cauldron: Raki is an alcoholic limpid beverage which is prepared from the grapes' bark, after excluding the must needed for the wine by the distillation process. In the house exists a traditional distiller which unfailingly works since 1927. An essential component of the distillation process, it's the companion, the local dishes and singing which all together create semblance Dionysian atmosphere.
Olive gathering: (olive-crop): The Olive oil it's the richest and the healthiest nourishment which combines with a unique way the tastefulness with the healthy diet. Olives exist in Crete since 2800 B.C., A place which its geographical position and climate it seems to particularly be present for that blessed tree. The olive oil that's being produced from our olives is virgin, has a deep golden-green color, it's limpid with a dense fluidity, tasteful with a pleasant essence, with low acidity. Our visitors apart from the possibility to taste our exceptional quality olive products, they might if they wish watch and participate in the olive-collecting route along the wintry months (November through February).
Orchard - Garden: In our property, visitors will find a variety of fruit-bearing trees and depending on the season can taste their fruits, such as: Apricots, peaches, plums, baccas, greengages, greengages, lemons, oranges, figs, and grapes. The garden of the house offers visitors' the pleasure and taste of local seasonal vegetables as well.
Bread - Rusk: In our house, the wooden-stove cooks bread and the characteristic Cretan Rusk, kneaded with yeast and whole wheat flour, with a unique way of wisdom taught us by our parents and their parents for over a century now. The essence of the timber and the cooked bread wakes up the senses and prepares them for a tasteful enjoyment that follows. Have you ever tried hot bread, cooked in timbers with olive oil? SETTLEMENT
Xirokampi stands in an amphitheatrically position with a nice view of the lowland filled with the olive groves and the grapevines up until the blue of the sea.
The look stretches out from the top of the Cretan mountains, passes through the green of the trees until it ends up at the deep blue sea.
The locals are mainly farmers, bounded with their land and their traditions. The visitor will enjoy the genuineness and the straightforwardness of the Cretan hospitality in each and every contact with the locals
Xirokampi settlement can be found on a 18 km distance from the city of Chania and 28 km from the international airport of Chania.

INTERESTING ROUTES
The Guest house is found 55 km From Sougia and the ancient coastal city Lissos, world known for its medicinal fountains & the Asclepium. Roughly in the means of the way, we meet one of the most important gorges of Western Crete, the Gorge of Saint Erina, and dowel of attraction for the walkers which ends at Sougia, near the blue waters Livikou. Accessible; May through September. E4 Pathway.
Palaiochora abstains 50 Km. The route from Palaiochora to Sougia its about 14,5 Km. Also an E4 pathway accessible spring and autumn.
