ANTZELA GEREKOU

GREETING BY THE

MINISTER OF TOURISM 2009
Mr. Konstantinos Markopoulos
FOR TPG TRAVELPAGE GREEK TOURIST GUIDE 2009
Greece is a unique country that combines natural with cultural and historical beauties. Greece constitutes one of the favourite worldwide holiday destinations not only because of its splendid mainland but for its marvellous islands, which are surrounded particularly by the Aegean and the Ionian Sea.
minister of tourism Greece konstantinos Markopoulos
There are hundreds of archaeological and historical sites to visit in Greece that gloriously depict the country’s past and the Greeks roots. It is worth mentioning that, Greece is a country that has the necessary requirements and facilities to offer memorable vacations and that’s the reason why it has today managed to become one of the most favourite tourist destinations among Europeans, Asians and Americans. Greece gives to the tourists the opportunity to enjoy and to experience the Greek hospitality, tradition and a safe and peaceful way of life, every time of the year.

I strongly believe that the global economic downturn will not prevent tourists to visit Greece, because we offer low prices with a high quality of services. We invite you to take a view of the astonishing beauty of Greece. This is the only way to live the true experience of Greece!

Aris Spiliotopoulos - Minister of Tourism Greece

GREETING
BY THE
MINISTER OF TOURISM 2007-2008
Mr. ARIS SPILIOTOPOULOS
FOR TPG TRAVELPAGE GREEK TOURIST GUIDE 2008

Greece is a country with unique comparative advantages. Its huge cultural wealth and its natural beauties make it one of the most beautiful counties in the world, ideal for developing tourist activities. Greek tourism, as one of the most important sectors of the Greek economy, has developed great momentum, which in turn creates great expectations and responsibilities.
Modern Greece, in the post-Olympics era, is a beautiful, safe and welcoming country, a country rich in infrastructures and know-how, a country that knows how to respond to major challenges and can satisfy the demands and needs of each and every visitor.
Our aim is to establish our country among the top tourist destinations, while preserving its identity and its character; the things that make it stand out.
Our country’s new strategic position in the international competitive environment demands that we promote Greece as a destination offering diverse experiences and contradictions, a destination for every visitor and for all year round.
Consequently, Greece may be the place where unique and true experiences come to life. That, in fact, is our strategy for the new international image of Greece, as a destination of international appeal. Nautical Tourism, Cultural Tourism, Countryside Tourism, Touring Tourism, Health & Wellness Tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events) tourism, Luxury Tourism, City Breaks (Athens – Thessaloniki) and Seaside Tourism are all available to potential visitors to Greece. These 9 strategic branches are the ones in which Greece will invest in the following years, in order to dull the edges of seasonality and enhance the tourism product.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome the current edition of the «Greek Tourist Guide», which showcases the Greek tourist product in the best possible way, making a significant contribution to our efforts for our country’s prospects for development.
Greek tourism is adapting fast and successfully to a world that is evolving rapidly, to a time when people are travelling more and more. I believe that we can meet this great challenge of our times with success.
